As we approach the end to 2025, The Acorn Support group held the annual Christmas Lunch. Reflecting on the last year, Gordon gave us plenty of positives as our group continues to grow. He explained the reason for the Acorn, which was chosen by one of the original trustees to show that if you plant an Acorn it will grow.
The Chairman’s awards were presented to very special volunteers who have contributed so much this year:-
Volunteer of the year – Jan Dawson
Carer of the Year – Trisha Wiggins-Browne
Patient of the Year – Ian Bowen
Honorary members were officially presented to:-
Philip Pope – Former Mayor of St Ives who has been a advocate supporter of The Acorn Cancer Support Group.
Val Zarno – A former lead therapist who led the way in the treatment of cancer patients for our therapist team and still supports us regularly.
Julia Mitchell (absent), first sec of Acorn and subsequent team leader at Ramsey & St Ives.
A big thank you to Rob Hyde who entertained us, … with a special guest singer Phil and their rendition of Sweet Caroline.
We thank our supporters and followers and wish you all a Very Happy Christmas and Healthy New Year.
